Terms of Service
The rules of the road for buying, selling and working on Haglox.
Last updated: 10 September 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Haglox website and mobile app (together, the “Platform”), operated from New Zealand. By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
1. The Platform
Haglox is an online marketplace where members list, discover, buy and sell goods and services, run and take part in auctions, list and apply for jobs, and message or call each other. Haglox provides the venue — unless expressly stated, we are not a party to any transaction between members, and we do not own, inspect or guarantee the items listed.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- You can browse the Platform without an account; buying, selling, bidding, messaging and applying for jobs require one.
- You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create an account, and at least 18 to buy, sell or enter binding transactions.
- You must provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date. Verification (such as email or phone confirmation) may be required for selling and other actions that affect other members.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account. Keep your credentials secure and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
- You may delete your account at any time in Settings; some records may be retained where the law or a dispute requires it, as described in the Privacy Policy.
3. Listings and selling
- You may only list items and services you are legally entitled to sell, described honestly and accurately, with photos of the actual item where applicable.
- Prohibited: illegal goods, weapons, stolen property, counterfeit or infringing items, recalled or dangerous products, and anything that breaches New Zealand law or these Terms.
- Listing fees and success fees, where they apply, are shown before you commit and are charged to your Haglox wallet.
- We may remove listings that breach these Terms, mislead buyers, or expose members or Haglox to risk, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly do so.
4. Auctions, offers and buying
- A bid or an accepted offer is a genuine commitment to buy. Do not bid or offer unless you intend to complete the purchase.
- Auto-bidding places real bids on your behalf up to your maximum; every bid it lands is as binding as one placed by hand.
- The seller is responsible for completing the sale with the winning bidder or accepted buyer; the buyer is responsible for payment as agreed.
- Where reserve prices apply, a sale only completes once the reserve is met.
5. Payments and wallet
- Wallet top-ups and payments are processed by our payment providers; Haglox does not store your card or bank details.
- Wallet balances secure your bids and pay Platform fees. They are not a bank account and earn no interest.
- Fees, once fairly incurred (for example a listing fee for a listing that went live), are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
6. Listing fees and the introductory offer
Where a listing fee applies it is charged to your Haglox wallet when the listing goes live, and it is shown to you before you publish. General Marketplace items carry no listing fee at all.
- Introductory offer: the first five listings you publish are free of listing fees, in any category. The count is per account across its lifetime, not per month, and a listing that has ended or been removed still counts towards the five.
- After your first five listings, the standard listing fee is 7.9% of the asking price, charged once when the listing goes live. For an auction the fee is calculated on the starting price, not the final bid.
- There is no separate fee at the point of sale, and buyers are charged no Platform fee.
- We may change or withdraw this introductory offer for new listings at any time. Any listing you have already published keeps whatever fee applied at the time.
7. Jobs
- Job postings must be for genuine roles, described accurately, and must comply with New Zealand employment and anti-discrimination law.
- Applications, including any cover note or CV link, are shared with the posting employer.
- Haglox is not the employer, recruiter or agent for any role posted and does not verify postings or applicants.
8. Conduct, content and safety
- Treat other members with respect. Harassment, hate speech, scams, spam and deceptive conduct are prohibited — in listings, messages, calls, reviews and job posts alike.
- You retain ownership of content you post, and grant Haglox a licence to host, display and promote it on the Platform.
- Do not post content that is illegal, infringing, obscene, or that discloses another person's private information.
- We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with or without notice depending on severity.
- To report a listing, message or member, contact support@haglox.co.nz or use in-app support — reports are reviewed promptly.
9. Our role and liability
The Platform is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Haglox excludes all implied warranties and is not liable for the conduct of members, the quality, safety or legality of items listed, or losses arising from transactions between members. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply.
10. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves; material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and continuing to use the Platform after a change takes effect means you accept it. You may stop using the Platform at any time.
11. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have exclusive jurisdiction. Questions about these Terms: support@haglox.co.nz.
